Fellowship and Community
1 John 1:7: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another....

Early in the Acts of the Apostles, after we read about the resurrection of Jesus and His now sitting at God’s right hand, we read about God’s promise from the words of Peter [Acts 2:39]: “For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”   That promise is of the coming Kingdom of God with Christ as King over the whole Earth.  1 John 2:25 tells us: “And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.” The word, “fellowship” in the New Testament is used to show that we have a common partnership with fellow believers.  Jesus established that His followers form themselves into associations with fellow believers which were called Ecclesias, Greek for which the current word, congregation reflects the thought, but the Greek simply means, “the called out ones”  The common English word today is church; not the building but the body of believers.  We are also told that as we see the day approaching [return of Jesus] we are to continue in our meeting together to strengthen one another in our common faith.

The spirit of what was meant is reflected in the Apostle Paul’s message to the church at Colossae [Col 3:16]; “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”  Presented here is a pictorial presentation of our meetings.  We gather to remember the Lord in communion, we speak to each other with words of encouragement , sing songs, and raise our thoughts in prayer to God, teach our children and each other from God’s Word and reach out to our community.
